Where do you turn for inspiration?

It’s official; I’ve joined Crossfit.
Every day around the lunch hour, I venture across town and hang out with some pretty incredible athletes. While they load up their bars with weights, I wonder which one is the lightest? “I think I’ll start there” While they do things like toes to bar, I ask, “What’s an alternate exercise?” Walking handstands(?) ..
“I’ll be over here cheering you on.”
I’m learning that pacing yourself is a beautiful thing. Especially if sitting down is high on one’s list of priorities
The class is a mix of some really cool people. Old(er), college-age, and everywhere in the middle. Oh, and a chocolate lab puppy named Moose who loves to roll on my sweater
Today while we warmed up, the conversation turned to inspiration. The answers were as diverse as you can imagine. Everything from websites, blogs, Instagram, Youtube. The sweetest? One man said his wife
While my sources of inspiration are always changing, there are a few Instagram accounts lately that I’ve been attracted to for one reason or another. Those that I scroll through again and again when I want to laugh out loud, learn something new, or wonder what I should make for lunch
And so, in the spirit of spreading the love and shining a spotlight on some really talented people. I thought it might be fun to share a few of them today
Gretchen Roehrs – what she does with a few lines of ink and fresh produce is truly impressive
Related: Daily Dose – because it’s creator believes we have a duty to act – not talk, not think, not imagine, but to step up and make a real difference in the world
Related: The Dogist shares photos all sorts of puppies, along with quotes from their owners. “He hates leaving the house and also hates coming back to the house.”
Lucy Litman – A lot of her work is inspired by an eating disorder. “Food wasn’t always a happy thing for me, and for many friends and family food still isn’t fun – so I’m hoping to show a more playful side to what we eat and get people thinking about colors, shapes and textures instead of calories or how much exercise they’ll have to do to burn it off” ~ Lucy Litman
Daily Overview – A collection of satellite images of landscapes around the world. Think the lava and ash blowing out of a volcano, an iceberg separating from the Larsen Ice Shelf in Antarctica, or Pulkkilanharju Bridge in Asikkala, Finland
On the healthy living (and eating) front:
jescoxnutritionist – Jessica Cox’s recipes and ideas will elevate your everyday meals without an awful lot of work
8th and Lake – Unlike many healthy accounts, Jeannette Ogden’s photos look like snaps of what she’s really eating that day, making her tips, tricks, and inspiration feel truly attainable.
nomnompaleo – Michelle Tam is an NYT bestselling author, Saveur Award-winning food blogger, and creator of all things Paleo
brownpapernutrition – Nutritionist, health and wellness writer, and mother, Jacqueline Alwill, who’s always real food ideas are always inspiring
livegreenhealthy – Nourishing meal ideas from around the web. They’re the best of the best
nutritionstripped – Plant-based, gluten-free blogger and green smoothie connoisseur
What would you add? Any Instagram feed you love these days? I’m at @veggiesbycandlelight if you want to be friends. xx
