How to Keep Your Summer Berries at Their Freshest

Can you resist buying too many berries in the summertime?

For me it's become a terrible trouble.  They just LOOK so good!

Inevitably, I'm confronted with berry guilt when we're not able to eat them all before interesting things begin to grow

So when I ran across this tip from Cook's Illustrated – rinse them in a mixture of white vinegar and water.  I couldn't help but wonder, does it work?

They say to add a healthy splash of vinegar to a bowl of water, submerge the berries, drain, and store them in the fridge in a little dish lined with a paper towel.

Fear not, you can't taste the vinegar, and the berries stay fresh for at least a week.  According to The Kitchn, the vinegar kills any bacteria and mold spores that linger on the fruit.

What do you think?  I'm going to give it a try

I'd love to know if you've tried it and how it's worked for you, or if you have any berry tricks up your sleeve

Have the happiest of Saturdays!

xoxo
