“Sorry folks. We're closed for two weeks to clean and repair America's favorite family fun park” ~ National Lampoon's Vacation

I'm writing this, sitting at the counter in a crowded Waffle House in New Orleans
Earlier in the week, I headed south for a bit of R&R. Something I haven't done in the longest time. An entrepreneur smoothie of sorts. The beautiful concoction of blending work commitments with the opportunity for some time away. Surely you've seen the drill.
I couldn't resist signing up The Bakeaway event, hosted by Joy the Baker, herself. It promises to be a Labor Day weekend filled with baking workshops, food styling, social media tips, yoga, and eating at some of the city's coolest restaurants.
I'm really excited and nervous all at the same time(!)
Afterward, I'm driving west and spending a few days with my brother and sister-in-law in Austin, before coming back home. I can't wait to meet their new kitties. Tuxedo cats, like Miss Poppy, and we've been hopeless about sending photos back and forth.

Admittedly, after five days away, I'm already fighting back pangs of home-sickness.
How are the puppies? Have you given Harry ice cubes to crunch on and make watery messes with? (Of course!)
Vacuumed when Sally isn't around? Her fear of loud noises is unmatched. (Who says we've vacuumed at all? Just kidding .. or not)
Little Poppy – Remember she likes some half-and-half with breakfast and tuna water in the late afternoon. (It's the little things, is it not?)
Nala's sleeping spots? All fluffed for napping perfection? (Yes, dear)
In the meantime I've been enjoying large chunks of quiet, catching up on my audiobooks, strolling around the French Quarter, taking a million photos, and discovering new places to coffee shop sit.
Here at The Veggies, I'll be back the week of September 9th with plenty of new recipes and stories. Thank you, as always, for being here
I hope you have a good one!
xoxo
